There are those in this world that believe they are entitled to whatever they desire. This is true when it comes to the world of sports as well. The Yankees are hated across the country because they buy their talent from other teams via free agency. The Los Angeles Lakers can trade mediocre talent for star players because they’re in the largest market. And then there is the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. The Cowboys, who were once dubbed “America’s team” by someone without a clue, seem to believe they have rights that no other NFL franchise should be afforded.
Earlier this week Jerry Jones - who’s interest in Pacman Jones is widely known - tried to include a stipulation in a deal for the troubled cornerback that would allow the Cowboys to receive a future draft pick if Pacman were to find himself in trouble again. What a joke! Essentially Jerry Jones feels he shouldn’t have to make a deal with risk involved. I should try this logic the next time I visit the casino. I’ll just walk up to a blackjack table and ask the person sitting next to me to bankroll my gambling expenses because I don’t want to risk my own cash.
I’m sure that’s when the NFL Network reported that trade talks were broken off between the two clubs. Jeff Fisher is one of the underrated coaches of our time and I can’t see him protecting another franchise by honoring such a request just to rid himself of a very painful thorn in his backside.
Jerry Jones has either lost his mind or thinks he’s in a world full idiots. The audacity to even ask for draft picks in a deal for Pacman Jones is ludicrous. Then again, you don’t see many teams trying to deal for a player better known for his off-the-field problems than his actual performance.
A deal that sends Pacman to Dallas is almost imminent, but I will light my hair on fire and run around Minneapolis if the Titans are stupid enough to trade away a “conditional” pick in any trade that involves Pacman Jones. It’s almost in their best interest to just cut Jones and let Dallas worry about him themselves.
