Are the Oakland Raiders the worst run franchise in the National Football League? Yes. Their offseason moves are a clear example of an owner who has long forgotten what it takes to succeed in this league.
It was apparent Al Davis needed to step down after he dealt away Randy Moss for a fourth round selection in last years draft after trading the seventh overall choice to get Moss just three years ago. Al may have been one of the brightest minds in the game at one point, but it’s definitely decades removed and Davis should realize the error of his ways and let a qualified candidate replace him as soon as possible.
The Raiders misfortunes can almost always be traced back to the team signing or trading for player’s that everyone else has given up on. It’s a place where troublemakers find solace and can continue to wreak havoc on the NFL and the surrounding community (allegedly). Don’t get me wrong, there is some logic behind picking up these types of player’s, but Al Davis has almost made it a point to acquire troubled individuals to bolster his roster. At what point does it fracture your foundation?
DeAngelo Hall is now rumored to have been in talks with Oakland about a possible deal that will bring the disgruntled defensive back to the Raiders. It’s the same old story from the same old author. Another rotten apple fell too far from the tree and the leader of Raider nation can’t resist the temptation.
I’m certain the Raiders will do everything in their power to get DeAngelo Hall from the Falcons. The only way to tell if Al Davis is still fit to run the team is what he’s willing to part with in order to acquire Hall. If he trades away another top ten pick, the fans should picket outside of Oakland’s headquarters until Davis hires a real GM.
